Cannes Lions will always celebrate work that drives progress through creativity – but this year it’s also an opportunity to harness the collective power of the community. An opportunity to contribute to, and affect, some of the industry and the world’s most pressing issues, such as the conflict in Ukraine.
In order to understand how we could keep a spotlight on Ukraine, we have worked with our Ukraine & Polish festival representatives to discover how LIONS could effectively support the Ukraine creative industry. Their feedback was that we should shine a light on Ukraine creatives – lending a strong focus to how they are coping in light of adversity.
By doing this, we aim to raise the profile of these talented people and encourage others to continue to work with them during this difficult time.
To activate this, we’ve built the The Ukraine Work Gallery at Cannes Lions 2022 – in collaboration with our Ukrainian reps. We’ve highlighted where Ukraine creatives were before the conflict and after, with the aim of surfacing their incredible resilience and creative talent.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, sent a message to the Cannes Lions creative community via video link during the Creativity Under Bombs session on Monday 20 June.
